Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, said that the work of the UN, thanks to the legal mechanisms that are included in it, made it possible to avoid the Third World War. The former prime minister made this statement in the article, “75th Anniversary of the United Nations: Old problems, new challenges and global solutions,” for RT.

Medvedev noted that it was the legal settlement that managed to solve many problems that have invariably arisen since the second half of the 20th century. Nowadays, the official stressed, there are also many unresolved issues. The elimination of weapons of mass destruction is one of them.

He urged to the organization to come to an operational decision, with the extension of the START-3 treaty. Recall that this document was signed by Medvedev himself in 2010, when he served as President of Russia.

Medvedev also supported the ban on the placement of weapons in space.
