Sergei Lavrov said that the threat of an arms race in space is growing. The Russian Foreign Minister stated this in a video message for the participants of the Geneva Conference on Disarmament. According to the official, at present there is still a chance to formulate generally accepted legal measures that can prevent danger in outer space.

The Foreign Ministry recalled the need to implement a project to prevent the placement of weapons in space, as well as the use of force or the threat of force against objects in space. Russia presented the document at the Geneva conference. According to Lavrov, Moscow is committed to international obligations on non-discriminatory use and exploration of space.
